Blog: Featured finalist - Parklands Manor Care Home - Metnor Construction

04 May 2018

Project of the Year (£10m and over)

Contract value: £15,800,000

Location: Chertsey, Surrey

The Parklands Manor Care Home is a luxury care home based near green-belt land outside of London where careful construction efforts were put into place to minimise disruptions to the environment. Innovative design and build incorporated the use of new technology from Canada.  Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF’s) from NUDURA are a more efficient way to build concrete structures, providing greater energy efficiencies and therefore cost savings to the client in the ongoing running of a facility.  NUDURA is manufactured from 100% recycled polypropylene and steel and offers 50-70% better energy performance over stick frames.

This was the first time Metnor Construction had used ICF’s and, conscious of the vital role sub-contractors play within their business, Metnor included the whole team in training around the product and installation.  Not only did this serve to share best practice but ensured the smooth delivery of the project.  Constant communication and non-adversarial approach meant that the project exceeded the expectations of the client and the Parklands Manor opening three months ahead of schedule, just under budget and without compromising on quality.
