People Development Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards 2023 finalist

In 2022, PiLON experienced an impressive 25% increase in sales and a 26% increase in employees. Their success is built on a commitment to high-quality service, health and safety, integrity, collaboration, and a people-focused approach, even amidst a challenging external environment.

As a result of their investment, 75% of their operational team members are now upskilled to become NICEIC Qualified Supervisors, BIM Informed Professionals, and Domestic Energy Assessors, or achieved qualifications such as L6 Site Management and L4 Site Supervision NVQs. Office-based colleagues have completed qualifications such as L5 Certificate in Housing Practice, ACCA Accountancy, and others.

PiLON's commitment to their people is also demonstrated through their enhanced online People Platform – ‘Our Legacy - Your Community,’ which features an Employee Assistance Programme and a Wellbeing Centre that provides resources in four key areas (Move, Munch, Money, Mind). Additionally, they offer other financial support such as access to trained, qualified, in-house Mental Health First Aiders, baby bonus, enhanced parental leave and pay, compassionate support, and a £2,000 referral scheme. Their bespoke Values-based Recognition Hub keeps the sense of belonging and community thriving. Colleagues can nominate the Employee of the Month, Manager of the Quarter, Site of the Month, and Super-Trader of the Quarter and send eCards to their peers for a job well done or simply to make their day.

PiLON's success has been recognised by the Construction News Workforce Awards, where they were awarded the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Initiative of the Year 2022. Their key achievements include a 91% staff retention rate in a volatile labour market, demonstrating the success of their investment in their people's development.
